The Hungry Hearts Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in Lake Stevens, Washington in 2015. It is designed to help feed hungry school-aged children who are currently on the National School Lunch Program by providing them with supplemental food for the weekends and school holidays. Many students are getting enough to eat at school during the week through the National School Lunch Program. However, when they are home on the weekends there often is not enough food. Supplemental kid-friendly food items are packaged in nondescript bags that are distributed to students at school on Fridays. All of the students who receive food through the Hungry Hearts Foundation remain completely anonymous.
The Hungry Hearts Foundation works with regional school districts to identify children in need of our services. It is run by volunteers found through schools’ PTAs/PTSAs and the community. The Hungry Hearts Foundation relies on donations of food and money from our local businesses, churches, and the greater community. |
