No Child Should Go Hungry When School Is Out
Since 2015, Hungry Hearts Foundation has been making sure local children in the Lake Stevens School District have kid-friendly meals for weekends and school breaks. Many students receive adequate meals during the school week through the National School Lunch Program. However, when they are at home on weekends, food insecurity often becomes a challenge. To address this weekend gap, we provide supplemental, kid-friendly food items in nondescript bags that are discreetly distributed to students on Fridays. All students receiving assistance through the Hungry Hearts Foundation remain completely anonymous. Now Part of the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank In 2025, we became a program of the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank—allowing us to reach even more children in our community. Located in the same building as the Food Bank and the VOA Lake Stevens Community Resource Center, we are also able to connect families with school supplies, clothing, and other essentials to help meet children’s basic needs. Still the Same Organization You Trust We’re still Hungry Hearts at heart, and 100% of your donations go directly to our program—providing supplemental weekend bags and school holiday boxes to help children thrive.
